This Can Mean Only One Thing

Project 365/3

Jul 07 2009_0971

i couldn't stand it anymore. i had to go get Little Man. he really wasn't unhappy. really. he had just woken up. Burgandi says that it looks like he's saying, 'i just woke up and already the d--- camera. get me a break'.  oh well. this (and of course seeing Burgandi and Mike too) was the highlight of my day.

i'll post some art later this week. probably on Thursday.

have a great Wednesday!

hope hope hope

how do i feel today? i am really disappointed and sad today because of a decision that my son made yesterday. i want the best for him and want him to have real joy. and so even though i feel really lousy today, i am going to hope, hope and hope some more today. i pray for him always that the Lord will bless him and give him wisdom in all that he does and every decision he makes. and i will continue to tell him that i love him everyday.

yesterday my friend Sandritaaaaa encouraged my to join Project 365 over at Flickr, so i did. i'm hoping that i can document my life with a  photo a day, but if not then maybe i can at least journal something here about the day. so...here is yesterday's picture and today's picture also.

grab your camera. join the fun.

my new camera. read here why i had to buy a new one.

I Bit The Bullet

i went camera shopping last night and this is the camera i bought. i'm excited about using it today. i'm taking a photography class next week too. i hope i can sleep tonight. hehe  i can't wait to use it.

i was catching up on some blog reading today and i found Butterfly Crafts over on my friend Jocelyn's blog. they have a little contest and giveaway going on right now. check it out. looks like a fun site.

there is so much to read and catch up on here in blog land. i'm having fun getting inspiration, looking at all the eye candy, window shopping and reading all the stories.

i can't wait to start scrapbooking again about all the peole i love, places i go, things i do and the everyday stuff about my life.

i'm off to bed to try to catch some shut eye. goodnight, happy dreams, sleep tight and God bless you. Family tradtition. my Mom said that to me as a child growing up and i said that to my kids. my daughter still smiles when she spends the night here and i tell her that. warm fuzzies.

LIFE IS A HIGHWAY

and i've been on the highway for too long now. wait! i'm NOT saying i've been on the highway of life for too long, but the highway highway.  lots of things have happened since my last post. obviously since i've been gone for more than 2 months. 2 month? how does that happen? oh yeah, now i remember.  family, road tripping, family weddings and work have keep on the go lately. and being where i don't really have access to internet makes it difficult to keep in touch. not to mention that i don't have phone service there either. small country town. don't ask!

last weekend i was away at a family wedding. it was a beautiful wedding and we a great time. except for one tiny detail. what, you ask? i lost my camera with the camera card still in it with all the weekend and wedding pictures still on it. i'm so bummed. so, i'm going to be looking for a new point
and shoot and a digital SLR. i had a Canon Powershot S3. i may go with their new point and shoot, the Canon Powershot S5 . i was really happy with the old one. it was a good camera. on the digital SLR...i'm clueless. i would love to hear any suggestions any of you may have. if any of you have a dSLR for sale let me know.

i also spent time in San Angelo with my family. i even got to take Harrison with me. my Mom and Dad don't get to see him often so they were thrilled that we got to spend a week with them. my sister, brother and nieces had so much fun with him too. and Harrison, he ate up all the attention he was getting. we all had a blast.

since i don't have any wedding pictures for you, i'm leaving you with some pictures that were already on my computer. just some of my favorite. no rhyme or reason...

i have a few scrapbook pages i did couple of months ago. i hope i get post them this weekend.

Jake and i are planning to have a quite holiday weekend at home. no fuss or no frills. what are your holiday plans? i'd love to hear them.

oOh, it cut off half of the picture of Harrison. he has his other arm out and his shadow looks like a monster. hehe

Twiddley Dee Twiddley Dum

oh, hi there.  ok...so i'm sitting out in my carriage house in my scrapbook room because i'm locked out of the house.  i'm waiting for Jake just got home from Wichita Falls where i was helping Burgandi and Mike move. i left my phone at home and Burgandi lost her's while she was moving, so we were all sharing Mikes phone. Unfortunately Mike doesn't have all my contacts in his phone. we also didn't have any internet. i REALLY have felt cut off from the rest of the world...you know, the technical world.  no internet, no phone, no blogging, no twitter.  so so frustrating and uncool.

i have some really cool photos to post. we did get to go see Jakey in Pittsburgh. we had a fabulous time. we painted some walls in his house and helped re-decorate a little. we didn't sight see much, but we still enjoyed spending time with him.  i also have some scrapbook and art journal pages that i did last weekend for  National Scrapbooking Day. i was just about to say that i would post when i get in the house and can get on my laptop and JUST now remembered that...OH NO.  guess where my laptop is? you guessed it. in Wichitl Falls at Burgandi's house. so i guess if i want to post anything i'll have to use this old dinosaur computer and scanner. i may attempt it. i may not.  Dang it!!!

ok, so my computer is downloading my camera card which has like over 1100 photos on it into Photoshop. this could take a while.  yep, been sitting here a while and we are at 20 percent now.
i will have to return in the near future to upload those photos.  remember, this computer is OLD and SLOW. but i'll be back as soon as possible.

in the mean time, i'm off the see what you have been up to lately. let me know what you created for NSD. i'd love to see it.

oops. guess i have to change my category from scrapbooking to everyday stuff.

and the verdict is...

well, the verdict is still out on the basket case. haha. not even funny!  our Easter weekend turned out  a little different than we had planned. Jake ended up working because we are headed out this week to see Jakey in Pittsburgh. he wanted to make sure everything was taken care of so he could leave with peace of mind about the jobs we have going right now. he was really exhausted so we decided to stay home, work in the yard, watch the Masters, and just try to catch up on some much needed rest. we are going to celebrate Easter with the Wichitans (a.k.a. Burgandi, Mike and Harrison) the week after we get back. so, i have an other week to decide. i'm leaning toward the wire bird cage or hat. she does love vintage and she looks great in hats.

i have several friends and family members that i pray for on a regular basis and this week i've found that i have been in continual prayer for several of you.  you all know who you are and my heart is with you guys. i found these scriptures last week and i have been praying this before i start my prayer for all of you:  Psalm 5:1-3: Give ear to my  words, O Lord, consider my meditation. Give heed to the voice of my cry, my King and my God. For to you I will pray.  my voice you shall hear in the morning, O Lord. In the morning I will direct it to you and I will look up.  -NKJ
just know i am adding my faith to yours everyday.

Jocelyn tagged me this week. thank you for being such a great friend. i feel like we have known each other for ever and i love the phone conversations we get to have every week. i look forward to that. here's the tag and the rules.

i want to share this link with those of you that are into the art journals right now. i stumbled upon this blog and i really LOvE it. have fun looking and reading. the site is called amonobooks: handmade journals and mixed media art.

here's one of the art journal pages i finished. i played with paint this time and it was fun too, but i'm partial to paper.
journaling reads:  Ain't no sunshine when he's gone. It's not warm when he's away. He's always gone to long any time he goes away.
Ain't no sunshine when he's gone. this house just ain't no home... any time he goes away.

Easter Basket or Not?

i have been collecting little goodies to put in Burgandi's Easter basket.  i won't mention any items because she might get on here and read this boring blog her mom writes. well...my dilemma is this. i really don't want to use a regular Easter basket this year. don't get me wrong. i love Easter baskets. there's nothing wrong with them. i just want to do something a little more creative (w/o breaking the bank mind you). i went junk shopping yesterday, but i didn't come up with anything spectacular. i did remember while i was out and about that i have a really cute vintage purse i might be willing to use. i also thought that about buying a new straw purse...like maybe from Target (if ours has any, but thats a post of a different story for a different day).

so...if any of you have a good suggestion i would love to hear it.

i got a couple of scrap pages done last night so i'll take some pictures of them and post them later tonight. my printer/scanner is acting weird again.

i hope everyone is having a merry Good Friday!

Art Journal - Woot!

hello friends. i have been wanting to start an art journal for some time now. every time i would think about it, i always talked myself out of it saying (to myself mind you) that i don't know enough about art to try to make an art journal. well...i decided to just go for it.  and i had so much fun! i went junk shopping and found some old photos i just couldn't pass up. so i brought them home and i copied this one onto a transparency. it didn't work out the way i wanted it to,  so i copied it onto card stock and distressed it. i painted the scallops at the bottom of the page using a piece of a package from a stamp set. i tore, crumpled, distressed and inked the edges of the card stock and book page. the butterfly and bumble bee are decorative napkins that i took apart, cut out and decoupaged on the page.  i just have to say it again. this was so much fun!  so...i got to create a new category for this post. cool, huh?

i want to say a big thank you to all of you who were praying for Harrison. he is doing so much better. he still doesn't have his appetite back completely, but he is drinking and is not getting dehydrated. we went to Wichita Falls to see Burgandi, Mike and Harrison this last weekend. they then followed us home so Burgandi could pick up her car. we had a great weekend. we took Burgandi shopping for an Easter dress and i bought goodies for the Easter baskets. it was great to just  relax and do something fun.
i hope you all had a fun weekend too.

i don't know why, but he LOvEs Jakes work van. well...actually he loves big trucks and vans period.
but when he sees the van he goes crazy and wants to play inside.
well of course his Papa J obliges.

here's a few shots of him playing in the yard.

i'm hoping to get more art journal pages or scrapbook pages done this week, but i have a terrible sinus headache and my stomach is really upset right now so i don't know if that is going to happen.
i hope you are all having a great week.

let go, laughing... life don't go quite like you planned it

if you like SugarLand, then you recognize those lyrics.

so...i'm gonna just let go, laughing (dancing, singing, praising - my own added version) because...life just hasn't gone quite like i planned it.

i got home Sunday from having such a wonderful, fun-filled weekend helping Chris and Jennifer celebrate their wedding, and Burgandi was packing up to go back to Wichita Falls. don't get me wrong. i'm glad that her and Mike are working hard at their marriage. it's just that she only had 5 weeks of school left. so so close to that Associates degree.  Thankfully all her professors have agreed to let her finish up on-line. she will only have to come back to Abilene to take her math final.  YaY!!  I miss you, Burgandi and Harrison.  Life don't go quite like you planned it...but it all works out.

i found out that my son, Jake (who i call Jakey), is not coming for Easter...but guess what? Jake and i are going to Pittsburgh to see him this month. i'm so excited. and so is he. hopefully, but most probably not (because of the weather), the guys will get to play some golf. it's been a while since they have gotten to go toe to toe on the golf course.  Life don't go quite like you planned it...but it all works out.

when Jake was working  in Colorado a few years ago, he bought me this really cool thumb ring. it was silver. not really a circle, but it had a great little shape to it. it said love on it. Thursday night when i was laying in bed, i realized it wasn't on my finger anymore.  i freaked. i looked for it all weekend long. i called the shop he bought it from. a really cool shop in Old Town Colorado Springs called Elly Blue. the owner is trying to find me another one. i'm hoping for the best, but it has been 3 years. so Monday, i'm still upset and my wise hubby says...let it go. I'll find you another one even cooler. so, i'm gonna let to, laughing...cause life hasn't gone quite like i planned it lately. it's even better because He has a plan way cooler than i could image.

if you can, will you please pray for this little sweet man, Harrison. he has some kind of something going on with his tummy. they thought he was going to be put in the hospital today, but he was a bit better and he wasn't dehydrated. thanks in advance for the prayers.
