hello all.  i took a vacation. and when i say vacation i mean vacation. i took a vacation from everything. the only thing i couldn't escape was me. everywhere i go, there i am. but i so enjoyed it. i missed you friends, but the time away from the phone, facebook, blog, twitter, work, ect...was so needed.

i took time to be with family, and be away from family. sorry family. you're loved, but i loved my me time too. the only thing i regret is that i took a vacation and forgot to take my camera with me for most of the time i was vacation. what's up with that? crazy! i know.

i do have a few pictures to share with you though. my cool, sweet friend, Victoria, started this fun project. it's called Cinnabuns across America, AKA the Leia Project. i love it.  here we go.

What are you falling for?

I love fall...or autumn.  I love the color orange, the smell of the earth and the smell of cookies and pies baking in the kitchen.  I love the moon in the morning sky.  I love the colors changing in the tress and the leaves dancing on the lawn. I love candy apples and candy corn and trick or treat. I love pumkins.

YaY!  It's  Friday!  We have been trying lately to take Fridays off, but it has been so busy.  Thank you, Father God!  What a blessing.

I have been thinking a lot about this lately, and I think that our homes say so much about who we are.  It doesn't matter how much it cost, or what neighborhood it's in, our homes are very personal.

A house is just a house, but a home is so warm and so special.  It is a little bit of ourselves poured into it.  Ourselves being, "us" as a family, or "me" if you're single.

Here is a little corner of my home.  It is my guest room in the carriage house.  My husband and I love to have our family and friends here as often as they can come for a visit.   Hope you enjoy.

Gotta run.  I have a lot of work to do before I can start my weekend road trip.

yummy roses

My sweet friend and neighbor brought me some very lovely roses from her garden.  I've said it before but I'm gonna say it again; I have the best neighbors.  The BEST!  We have so much fun.
They smell so yummy!

In return I made her this card.  The "K" is actually a magnet that she can remove and use.  I entered this card into a challenge on Danielle Flanders blog.  If you haven't checked out her blog,  you should.   You can find a link to her site on my side bar under My Happy Places.

Spring Gardening

Here are the photos from this weekend of the planting we did in the yard in front of the carriage house.  Like I said before, we don't really know what we're doing.  We just put it in, if it lives and we like it, it stays.  If not,  something else goes in it's place.

We didn't have a yard here at all last year. It was all part of our drive way.  We cleared it all out (we being Mr. Wonderful and our fabulous neighbor who gave a hand clearing it out) and then we put  the grass in and all the shrubs.  I did help with all this.   We also planted a red oak.  We loved the results.  I'm going to look for before pictures so maybe I can do a layout.

We puttered a little yesterday in the front garden beds and planted a few things.  We still have a ways to go up front.

The second photo is one from the door to the carriage house looking out.  I posted it because later this summer I want to compare how much the trumpet vines have grown.  I believe it will be a significant difference.  I hope so.  It always amazes me how fast everything grows and fills in.  I always want to fill up the baskets and I have a tendency to overcrowd them.

The third photo is of Mr. Wonderful.   He says this is his secret to getting everything to grow so beautifully.  hehe. That's always his department.  I would always forget to fertilize if it was left to me.  I'll stick to the planting, pruning  and watering.    Aww, heaven.
