One definition of scoliosis is a spinal
deformity in a skeletally mature person with a Cobb angle of more than
10° in the coronal plane. Another definition of scoliosis is curvature of the spine. Most cases of scoliosis are degenerative, idiopathic, or without a known cause. Contrary to old wives tales, scoliosis is not caused by playing sports, having poor posture, or carrying heavy things. and yes, i am a mature (as in age) person, but skeletally mature refers to someone whose bones have stopped growing. LOL
nice, huh? i'm tired of having this. i don't like the back pain. i don't like the way my clothes hang on me. i don't like my posture. i don't like that i'm shorter than i would actually be if i didn't have this. i just don't like this!
i would love to have this corrected at Baylor Scoliosis Center. but, i'm too chicken. i am terrified of the screws that they would have to use. i know. silly me.
but i am happy that i am healthy enough to enjoy my family, and enjoy my life. so i'll try to remember to stand up straighter, quit complaining and work on my courage.
Picture Spring! i am definitely signing up for this class given by Tracy Clark, founder of Shutter Sisters. i've heard that it takes 30 days to create a habit and i am more than willing to make it a habit to carry my camera with me everywhere i go and take at least 1 picture everyday. i am so excited that spring is here...even if it was cold, wet, sleeting and snowing on the first day of spring. hey, it's Texas. what do you expect? sunny and balmy one day, and sleeting and snowing the next. nice! that didn't stop us from enjoying the day. we took one excited little man to see Thomas and Friends: Hero of the Rails. he loved it. as we were getting ready to leave the theater he was talking all about it and he said, 'It was pretty good'.
i also finished putting out almost all of my spring and Easter decorations and cleaned up the house a little bit. i'm ready to roll up my sleeves and do some spring cleaning around here and get all these container pots that we had already planted back outside.
i hope you are enjoying the new spring season too.
what a weekend! we had so much fun. i have to say that i was a little concerned that Harrison was going to be overwhelmed with everything, but he did fantastic. and he had a blast. when he first got here on Thursday he was wearing his "Max" from Where the Wild Things Are costume. he didn't want to take it off. then on Halloween night he didn't want to put it back on because i had made the crown and attached it. he finally put it on and he was really adorable, if i say so myself.
he had fun trick or treating.
then he helped give out candy.
he had fun being the king of the wild things
i hope you watched out for the witches on Halloween
this is what we made for our little celebration
it's dangerous being a witch. i had to hang my hat up. i fell and twisted my ankle. i think i'll change my name to grace. Boo!
i hope everyone is having a good week so far. (Jocelyn, we have to change your situation fast. i'm thinking of you)
make a date with my hubby to go to the golf range
i'm still spending money even if it is on-line shopping and i'm hitting the Paypal button
do what's right even when no one is watching
guard my heart with His Word
start a journal - even i don't journal everyday
don't have unrealistic expectations (referring to last reminder and other ridiculous demands i put on myself)
get a massage this week
get a new book to read (any suggestions)
clean my scrapbook room so maybe i can use the new kits i got in recently
always give God the Glory
...and make today a celebration!
Jake and i spent a fantastic weekend at home working on the yard whenever the rain would let up some. we had friends over for coffee and just chilled out. we watched football and golf. it was wonderful. what did you do this last weekend?
i'm just popping in to say hi. i haven't had time to post anything new for a couple of weeks now. i haven't even been on to blog hop. i've pretty much been cut off from the techi world with very little phone service, very little texting and tweeting. i miss everyone. i have quite a few things to share, but they will have to wait just a bit longer. i want to spend the day with my hubby today because i won't see him all week this coming week. so no new news. no new reminder lists today. no pictures or art. just a little hello and i'll be back soon.
i'm sitting here at home in front of my very old and slow desk top. i should be in San Angelo visiting my mom. do why am i still here? well, i couldn't find my keys yesterday. i had them first thing in the morning and then when i was getting ready to leave i couldn't find them. Yes, i have a place where hang my keys so i don't know why didn't put them there. i searched and searched and finally around 9:30 pm i found them. in. my camera. bag. why i put them in there i don't know! the troubling thing is that this starting to misplace things started some time back now. way before i lost my camera at IHOP. i've left my purse at Starbucks, lost debit card in Wichita Falls, can't find my checkbook, i left my laptop in San Angelo last weekend...the list could go on and on but i won't bore you with the details. i hope it's just a phase that i will be out of soon. this is CRAZY!
here's the little mini album i did for a challenge over at Betterfly Crafts. the new challenge is up now so go on over there and join in on the fun. i think you can click on the picures to make them bigger.
the photos aren't that great. sorry about that. oh, and the new challenge is up over at A Few Of My Favorite Things. it's a one fun too. the prompt ths week is what's your favorite flower.
i hope you're having a great big fantastical day today.
oh, hi there. ok...so i'm sitting out in my carriage house in my scrapbook room because i'm locked out of the house. i'm waiting for Jake just got home from Wichita Falls where i was helping Burgandi and Mike move. i left my phone at home and Burgandi lost her's while she was moving, so we were all sharing Mikes phone. Unfortunately Mike doesn't have all my contacts in his phone. we also didn't have any internet. i REALLY have felt cut off from the rest of the world...you know, the technical world. no internet, no phone, no blogging, no twitter. so so frustrating and uncool.
i have some really cool photos to post. we did get to go see Jakey in Pittsburgh. we had a fabulous time. we painted some walls in his house and helped re-decorate a little. we didn't sight see much, but we still enjoyed spending time with him. i also have some scrapbook and art journal pages that i did last weekend for National Scrapbooking Day. i was just about to say that i would post when i get in the house and can get on my laptop and JUST now remembered that...OH NO. guess where my laptop is? you guessed it. in Wichitl Falls at Burgandi's house. so i guess if i want to post anything i'll have to use this old dinosaur computer and scanner. i may attempt it. i may not. Dang it!!!
ok, so my computer is downloading my camera card which has like over 1100 photos on it into Photoshop. this could take a while. yep, been sitting here a while and we are at 20 percent now. i will have to return in the near future to upload those photos. remember, this computer is OLD and SLOW. but i'll be back as soon as possible.
in the mean time, i'm off the see what you have been up to lately. let me know what you created for NSD. i'd love to see it.
oops. guess i have to change my category from scrapbooking to everyday stuff.
if you like SugarLand, then you recognize those lyrics.
so...i'm gonna just let go, laughing (dancing, singing, praising - my own added version) because...life just hasn't gone quite like i planned it.
i got home Sunday from having such a wonderful, fun-filled weekend helping Chris and Jennifer celebrate their wedding, and Burgandi was packing up to go back to Wichita Falls. don't get me wrong. i'm glad that her and Mike are working hard at their marriage. it's just that she only had 5 weeks of school left. so so close to that Associates degree. Thankfully all her professors have agreed to let her finish up on-line. she will only have to come back to Abilene to take her math final. YaY!! I miss you, Burgandi and Harrison. Life don't go quite like you planned it...but it all works out.
i found out that my son, Jake (who i call Jakey), is not coming for Easter...but guess what? Jake and i are going to Pittsburgh to see him this month. i'm so excited. and so is he. hopefully, but most probably not (because of the weather), the guys will get to play some golf. it's been a while since they have gotten to go toe to toe on the golf course. Life don't go quite like you planned it...but it all works out.
when Jake was working in Colorado a few years ago, he bought me this really cool thumb ring. it was silver. not really a circle, but it had a great little shape to it. it said love on it. Thursday night when i was laying in bed, i realized it wasn't on my finger anymore. i freaked. i looked for it all weekend long. i called the shop he bought it from. a really cool shop in Old Town Colorado Springs called Elly Blue. the owner is trying to find me another one. i'm hoping for the best, but it has been 3 years. so Monday, i'm still upset and my wise hubby says...let it go. I'll find you another one even cooler. so, i'm gonna let to, laughing...cause life hasn't gone quite like i planned it lately. it's even better because He has a plan way cooler than i could image.
if you can, will you please pray for this little sweet man, Harrison. he has some kind of something going on with his tummy. they thought he was going to be put in the hospital today, but he was a bit better and he wasn't dehydrated. thanks in advance for the prayers.
